O-1B Approval for Multimedia Artist from Sweden

We recently received an O-1B approval for a Swedish artist working in the mediums of sculpture, printmaking, and painting. Congratulations to our client!

Since our client mixes various mediums in her work, we framed her position as a multimedia artist. She had completed an MFA program in the United States last year and just finished her OPT period. Many artists believe that they will not be able have enough achievements by the end of their OPT period to qualify for an O-1B visa, but in fact many artists do apply at that juncture and are approved. It is a good idea to know the criteria used to determine whether someone has “extraordinary ability” so that you can best use your OPT period to hit those milestones and put yourself in a good position to apply for an O-1B once your OPT finishes.
